Join us

There are several ways that you can directly impact and help us, all of which will require your energy, enthusiasm to make a difference and time!

Please see our options below to see which suits you best, if you can’t commit to regular hours then at least join us as a member, it’s FREE and really helps us report back to the authorities with more clout!

Become a member

We want to reach out to as many of the 20,000+ families of children and young people with additional needs or disabilities in Surrey as possible.

By becoming a member of Family Voice Surrey, you will join your voice with over 1000 other Surrey parent carers.

You will get regular newsletters, which will keep you up to date with the work we are doing, as well as giving you useful information and an opportunity to take part in our surveys and events. (You can unsubscribe at any time - we promise not to bombard you with emails!).

Work For Us

If you are passionate about the needs and rights of SEND families in Surrey, then come

and work for us.

Family Voice Surrey is a family-friendly employer, offering flexible working hours and generous annual leave.

If you would like further information or an informal discussion, contact Rachael Foley by emailing contact@familyvoicesurrey.org or call 01372 705708.

If you don't want to commit to a regular paid role at the moment, would you consider volunteering as a parent rep?

Join us as a Parent Representative

We are currently looking for parent 'ambassadors' who have experience of a particular area of need, knowledge of a specific setting or are able to offer a skill to help us grow Family Voice Surrey.

This would allow us to input across a wider sphere of topics that are relevant to children and young people with additional needs and disabilities. If you would like to discuss what this might involve, then please email us.

School Reps are volunteers who represent Family Voice in their school, sharing our surveys with parents and raising our profile.

Parent Reps represent the views of families at meetings, workshops and events relating to education, health, disabilities and social care and work with them to improve services.

Parent reps (homeworking): do you work full time or find it difficult to get out to meetings? You can still make a valuable contribution by commenting on documents or carrying out analysis of research for forum initiatives and themes or events.

Become a Trustee

Do you have a passion for the voice of parents and carers of children with additional needs to be heard? Family Voice Surrey (FVS) is looking for people who can bring sound judgement, good business skills and a willingness to give their time to form our Board of trustees as we move forward as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with specialised knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:

Education, health and social care services for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities

HR, training and development

Finance - book-keeping/accountancy

About the role:

-Ensuring FVS complies with its governing documents, charity law and other legislation

-Ensuring FVS is financially stable and uses its resources for its charitable purpose

-Actively contributing to the Board, giving firm strategic direction to the organisation

Applications from parent carers or family members of children or young people with special educational needs or disabilities will be particularly welcome.

Be an Associate

Are you an individual (eg. a SENCO) or an organisation that supports children with special needs and their families?

If so, we would love to hear from you and discuss ways in which we could work together, whether hosting an event, providing information to parents and carers or partnering on grant bids.

Please email us in the first instance and we will respond as quickly as possible. Thank you.
